Iraq

We must develop a responsible plan that allows an exit strategy from Iraq. This plan must allow a withdrawal from the region without sacrificing all the gains, and achievements attained. We must hold the Iraqi’s accountable, and force responsibility for taking control of their country and issues. To do such we must set deadlines, and guidelines that can be monitored. If they succeed, there could be incentives offered, if they fail funding and support should be withheld. I do not understand why Iraqi oil is not used to help finance these costs, but as a Congressman, I would certainly question such.

Iran

The United States should take all diplomatic means to the point of exhaustion in preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. The stability of the Middle East is paramount to our economic, and energy interest of the United States. Many of the regional countries also seek peace and stability. As a world leader, the United States should unite all the interested parties to resolve this issue appropriately. I believe the government of Iran can be negotiated with, remembering they were a vital ally in the battle against the Taliban in Afghanistan. If in fact Iran proves to be a rogue state, I would not rule out a military strike.
