Health Care
I do believe the federal government can play an important role in the health care system. I believe the government should cover, at the very least, those who do not presently have health care insurance, such as, the indigent, the terminally ill, the mentally ill, and children. The government now spends more per capita on health care than any other country in the world, yet our system is antiquated, ineffective, and unaffordable. To help make health care affordable, we need to streamline the process, update the technologies involved, and pressure insurance companies to allocate risks.
I would like to see the insurance companies offer existing plans to members not presently in the group. I would like to see the government offer small business tax credits to those who offer health insurance to their employees. I believe the government can pay for some of these costs by closing loopholes in the tax system, by balancing the budget, and by eliminating the deficit, which in turn would create a more vibrant, productive society.
