Future

I do not believe that the U.S. is heading in the right direction. Globally the United States does not enjoy the reputation it once did, economically we are on the verge of a recession, and have historic deficit levels, due to trade imbalances and a weakening of the dollar. Domestically Congress has not resolved their policy toward the war in Iraq, they have not instituted any reform pertaining to immigration, and all the illegal immigrants, they have failed to restructure our healthcare system, and failed to address the unattainable rising cost of education. To date, Congress has not taken any steps to rectify the housing market crash or to assist any of the families facing foreclosure.

The reason I believe that Congress can not and will not attain solutions to these issues is because Congress is controlled by the liberal left wing of the Democratic party, and the Executive Branch is controlled by the extreme conservative wing of the Republican party. The people of this country elect politicians to serve their interest, they trust that the politicians will act in a cooperative, compromising manner to achieve quality legislation that benefits the people, the people further expect accountability and integrity from their official, not to become mean-spirited, self interested, and polarized behavior that is prevalent. To achieve a consensus in Congress and to create meaningful legislation, moderate politicians who reflect the moderate goals and agendas of most Americans must be elected. Extreme politics has divided America and its people and many of the people around the world.
